Inca Trail to Machu Picchu 5 Days
Inca Trail 5-Day Trek | The Relaxed Alternative to the Classic 4 day
Our signature 5-day journey is masterfully timed to offer you double the magic. By arriving at the Sun Gate in the quiet, golden light of the afternoon, you experience a tranquil sunset over the ruins from the Circuit 1 Panoramic Viewpoint. Designed for those who want to savor every step, this route trades the very early morning wake-up calls for more peaceful mornings, quiet campsites, and the luxury of exploring hidden Inca ruins with more time. The Classic 4-Day Inca Trail is still the undisputed heavyweight champion in terms of name recognition; however, the 5-Day version is rapidly becoming the insider’s choice for 2026.
The 5-day program is an excellent alternative to avoid most of the crowds found on the 4-day classical route and to reach quieter, more beautiful campsites. It is also recommended for families with children and mature adults, as it gives an extra day for acclimatization to the altitude and the daily walking distance is shorter because it is spread out better. By adding just 24 hours to the journey, you trade the 4:00 AM crowds for sunset views and a specialized Circuit 3 guided tour of the royal sector, exploring hidden ruins that remain a secret to the rest of the world.
Please review the live Inca Trail permit availability to ensure your preferred or backup departure dates are open. We invite you to explore our signature Orange Nation experience, from our top-tier trekking gear with personal porter service and essential packing guide to the gourmet organic meals our clients love about us!

We had a great experience doing the 4d3n Inca Trail. Our porters were so hard working and made sure our tents and equipment were always ready for us. The chef Mario was outstanding and prepared restaurant quality vegetarian food everyday. Our guide Carlos made the trip exceptional, always making sure we were informed and making sure we were all enjoying the trail. He went above and beyond to encourage me when I was unwell. He made the trip the best ever. A beautiful and wonderful trek.

Hiking the Short Inca Trail was hands-down one of the highlights of my entire trip to Peru. This trek is the perfect option if you want a taste of the iconic Inca Trail without committing to the full 4-day hike.
From the moment we started the hike at KM 104 Carlos our guide was amazing and patient. we were surrounded by breathtaking mountain views, lush cloud forests, and fascinating Inca ruins. The trail itself is moderately challenging—expect a steady incline, stone steps, and a bit of cardio—but it’s absolutely doable for anyone with a decent fitness level. The sense of accomplishment when you reach the Sun Gate (Inti Punku) and get your first glimpse of Machu Picchu is
